6 Mischiefs Managed - [Accidental video] (backdated to Monday)

[George is seated at the kitchen table, making some notes on a piece of paper. A cup of tea can be seen next to his paper. He takes occasional sips as he works, scratching his nose with the tip of his quill. Beyond his left shoulder, the kettle is thrumming away happily on the stovetop, clearly about to start boiling any minute. George pauses over his work for a moment. Then several moments. It's been quite a while and it's clear George is not moving. Behind him, the kettle starts whistling, but still he stays still, his quill poised over the paper.

After a moment, the feed cuts.]

[ooc: Yep! George got hit with the frozen carousel curse. He'll be stuck in the Weasley cabin kitchen for 24 hours. Shenanigans and face drawing is encouraged and expected. Voice/video comment will be responded to from the next day.]

[ Ariadne's found the mirror. ]

Just a simple vanishing charm, extended to the wearer's neck. Good, isn't it?

[boutant]

Simple for you, maybe. [ If he could see the expression on her face right now, it would be one of shock. ] It's better than good.

[onlyholey]

We invented this one back in seventh year. We ended up using the same principle for our line of shield clothing. You know, cloaks and hats and gloves and what not with shield charms worked into them. Ended up being a right commodity during the war.

[boutant]

[ Taking the hat off now. ] And shield charms are...?

[ Whoa whoa whoa wait hold up. ] What war?

[onlyholey]

Stop you from getting hit by most jinxes. Won't work on anything properly Dark Arts, but it'll filter out a good lot.

[He pauses a little, his hand coming up to scratch right over where his left ear used to be, almost without noticing.]

Big bloody mess, that. It's over now, at any rate.

[boutant]

I'd be interested in those, I think. You might have noticed that I'm not exactly physically intimidating.

[ She notices, though. There's a pause, and then, hesitantly: ] Could I see?

[onlyholey]

[He crosses his arms and leans back a little.]

See what?

[boutant]

Your ear. [ :x ]

[onlyholey]

There's not really any left of it to see.

[He does sit down on a nearby box, though. Take that as an invitation, if you will.]

[boutant]

[ Ariadne is known to take sleeping out in the open as an invitation to jump into someone's dreams, and this is an actual invitation (sort of). Tucking a bit of hair behind one of her own ears, she leans in to look. She's quiet, not asking any questions, just observing.

She remembers Saito being shot in the chest, trying to help Yusuf put pressure on it, blood on her hands before she was able to clean them off. She doesn't shudder, but she does push the thought out of her mind in favor of moving some of George's hair to get a better look with her typical disregard for tact. ]

[onlyholey]

[As George said, there really isn't much to see. Where an ear should be, there is now a small, dark hole. His ear had been sliced clean off, and the skin just healed over it. He can still hear on his left side, just not terribly well.]

Fred and I reckon it makes us a lot easier to tell apart, eh?

[boutant]

[ There's a slight smile. ] Yeah, a bit. [ And a dip of her fingers, though it's hard to tell if it was intentional, tips brushing over scar tissue before she pulls her hand away. ]

[onlyholey]

Find anything in there?

[boutant]

Couldn't even see through to the other side.

[onlyholey]

Funnily enough, I've heard there's a little something in the way to be able to do that.

[boutant]

[ Ariadne laughs, picking the Headless Hat back up and setting it on his head. ] I can see through now.

[onlyholey]

Looks rather dashing on me, don't you think?

[boutant]

Is this a trick question?

[onlyholey]

[He whips the hat off and tosses it in the corner.]

Reckon I'd look well dapper like that if I ever ended up in the Headless Hunt.

[boutant]

I think I need a "wizard-to-Ariadne" dictionary before you kick me out for asking too many questions. What is the Headless Hunt?

[onlyholey]

A load of ghosts that used to live at Hogwarts. That was our school. They were all blokes who died loosing their heads, so they ride around tossing their heads at each other. Bit of a laugh, I suppose.

[boutant]

You'd have to still have your head to participate. I don't think invisible heads would count.

[onlyholey]

You also have to be dead, love. The ghost part is something they're a bit of a stickler about for entrance.

[boutant]

Are they actual ghosts? [ She catches herself before she can add "or just memories?", thinking all too clearly of Mal. ]
