6 Mischiefs Managed - [Accidental video] (backdated to Monday)

[George is seated at the kitchen table, making some notes on a piece of paper. A cup of tea can be seen next to his paper. He takes occasional sips as he works, scratching his nose with the tip of his quill. Beyond his left shoulder, the kettle is thrumming away happily on the stovetop, clearly about to start boiling any minute. George pauses over his work for a moment. Then several moments. It's been quite a while and it's clear George is not moving. Behind him, the kettle starts whistling, but still he stays still, his quill poised over the paper.

After a moment, the feed cuts.]

[ooc: Yep! George got hit with the frozen carousel curse. He'll be stuck in the Weasley cabin kitchen for 24 hours. Shenanigans and face drawing is encouraged and expected. Voice/video comment will be responded to from the next day.]

Ginny had mentioned. She and I are sort of in the same boat with that.

Lots of older brothers?

Not exactly. All my roommates are older, male, and paranoid.

[In George's mind, full household=exciting one.]

[ She laughs. ] Well, one of them burnt down the apartment.

[onlyholey]

Blimey. You lot all alright?

[boutant]

Oh, yeah, we were all out. [ Even though Eames was technically on house arrest, they'd conveniently forgotten thanks to the curse that day. ] The dog and the cat, too.

[onlyholey]

Where are you staying now?

[boutant]

We've all managed to pack into Stephen Stills' place -- not sure if you've met him, but I think he and Ginny work at the same place.

[onlyholey]

Might have seen him a few times, yeah. Tall bloke? Looks like he needs a shave?

[boutant]

Yeah, that's the one. The four of us and the two animals wriggled into his and his roommate's apartment.

[onlyholey]

Sounds... cosy.

[boutant]

That's one word for it.

So how do you feel about seeing a headless hat?

[boutant]

[ Good transition there, George. ] Very intrigued.

[onlyholey]

[George digs into a box and comes out with a giant plumed hat, which he plops on Ariadne's head.]

Go on, then. Take a look in the mirror.

[boutant]

That is some hat-- Whoa.

[ Ariadne's found the mirror. ]

That...

[onlyholey]

Just a simple vanishing charm, extended to the wearer's neck. Good, isn't it?

[boutant]

Simple for you, maybe. [ If he could see the expression on her face right now, it would be one of shock. ] It's better than good.

[onlyholey]

We invented this one back in seventh year. We ended up using the same principle for our line of shield clothing. You know, cloaks and hats and gloves and what not with shield charms worked into them. Ended up being a right commodity during the war.

[boutant]

[ Taking the hat off now. ] And shield charms are...?

[ Whoa whoa whoa wait hold up. ] What war?

[onlyholey]

Stop you from getting hit by most jinxes. Won't work on anything properly Dark Arts, but it'll filter out a good lot.

[He pauses a little, his hand coming up to scratch right over where his left ear used to be, almost without noticing.]

Big bloody mess, that. It's over now, at any rate.

[boutant]

I'd be interested in those, I think. You might have noticed that I'm not exactly physically intimidating.

[ She notices, though. There's a pause, and then, hesitantly: ] Could I see?

[onlyholey]

[He crosses his arms and leans back a little.]

See what?

[boutant]
